Tony’s extensive and varied repertoire includes traditional Scottish and Irish songs and social-critical material penned by contemporary songwriters. Amusing, entertaining songs encourage the audience to sing along with the choruses.
His witty, self-ironic introductions and spontaneous sense of humour guarantee immediate rapport with the audience.
On stage Tony plays two differently tuned acoustic guitars, a 10-string cittern, a six string electric dulcimer, sometimes a mandolin and his inimitable bass pedals. He achieves an astonishingly full and varied sound for a solo performer – without any computerised gadgets.
His voice has also improved with age – just like a good single malt.
